Shane looked at herself in the frosted shower with her fingers writing the words "I missed you". She has been here already for 10 months. The reason how she left her hometown was because of a broken relationship. She needed to get away. She needed a whole new place to start her life afresh.

It wasn't a love that everyone would approve of. The relationship was in the dark. She was the mistress. And it lasted for four years.

Shane came to Singapore hoping that it would be a new chapter in her life. She could forget everything that has happened to her in the last relationship.

She switched on the radio.



It was in the night where dedications were granted. She tried her luck and dialed. Engaged.

Perhaps it's just not meant to be. Perhaps it's just a dream she could never reach.

She had just confessed her love to her regular.

He wasn't that good looking and neither tall. He wasn't rich nor does he have a car. But its the little things that he did that makes her heart yearn for him. She thought she would never fall in love again after the failed relationship but he was different. He was always there for her when she needed help or someone to talk to and confide.

Shane: Never have I fell in love so much. I know its impossible but could you just be with me for a while more? Let me embrace you more, let me feel the warmth. You lighted my life. Slowly and slowly my heart was calling out for you. How wonderful would it be if you were single.

With that she sobbed quietly behind the man she loved. Her nose soured as she hugged him tightly.

Shane finished with the part she hated the most. HJs. She hated it but it was the only way she could earn the money to pay back her relatives that she borrowed her money from. Coming here she depleted her savings and still she had to borrow. For a good 2 years, the price was extorbitant. But she haven't had much of a choice. Staying at her own place would remind her of the hurt she went through.

She wished every HJ would end quickly as she would go to the toilet and spent at least 15 mins washing up her hands. Shane was worried but in order to earn she had to take the risk.

"Em.. You taken lunch? Want anything? There's a famous dim sum store here."

Shane: No thanks.

"Em.. room XXX."

Shane: Ok.

Ding dong.

He opened the door and there stood Shane, dressed in a yellow sporty tshirt and jeans. She smiled cheerfully and greeted.

He smiled back.

Em. I bought dim sum. It must be tiring massaging. Thought I buy you some to eat so you don't get hungry easily.

Shane: Oh wow. Thanks. I ate earlier. I will pack it back and eat later. Don't worry ok? I will promise you it will be finished.

She started the massage with a sweetened heart.

Shane felt that sweetness but she knew she can't be too soft hearted. She promised herself not to get involved with any. Prior to flipped over, she asked if he wanted her to be the pilot to beat down the aeroplane.

Shane had to rush for her next client, took the pack of food and she ran off. But she came back again.

Shane felt weird. For the first time she wished Xing would want to see her again. Her heart was thumping without her knowing.

He slammed the door of Shane's rented apartment. Shane world became monotonous instantly. She thought the very news would cheer her 'man' up but never has she thought it would turn out this way. The cold notes laid on the ground as she hid herself in her blanket.

It was her very first pregnancy. She looked at the cold walls of the room and no one was there. The curtains flew with the weather turning to the winter season.

Her heart was already dead with the decision of her man. He could not promise her a life of bliss. But a lifetime of pain. She was totally wrong about him. The years with him would only prove a point.

She was just a nobody but a toy to him. No matter how much effort she put in, it was all but an empty shell. The notes on the floor flew with the breeze. She stood up and picked up the notes and the next day she is going to lose the gift bestowed through the thing they called love.

And from tomorrow, how would she be? A broken soul or a dead person devoid of feelings?



The sun cast its gentle rays on her back but it felt so painful. She dressed up and left for the gynae, alone. The signature of her signing felt so much carving your heart with the sharpest knife. She opened her mouth but yet there were no sound. She tried to stop the tears but there was no control. In only a few seconds, she blacked out from the injection.

Goodbye. My love. My soul. My heart as the doors closed. Her last teardrop containing the sweet memories of him trickled down as it landed on the cold floor, shattering her dreams apart.
