SPOTTED: Chinese navy stops in Brisbane, stocks up on Aussie milk powder
In the guise of an "international mission," the Chinese navy showed up in Brisbane on January 2nd and just happened to make off with a whole lot of Australian baby formula.
The proud soldiers were caught red-handed at the Brisbane port carrying off considerable quantities of Aptamil 3 onto navy warship 152. Photos were snapped and, naturally, taken to social media. Some netizens of course wagged their fingers, while others merely cursed the unreliability of domestic milk.
There is already a flourishing black market trade between Aussie supermarkets and middle-class Chinese parents with middle-men making a tidy product selling respected Australian brands of baby formula on Taobao for double or triple the price they fetch down under.
We can only assume that the PLA is now getting into the business to make a little extra change, after all, airstrips on man-made islands in the middle of the ocean don't just pay for themselves.
