The 29-year-old, who was in Singapore with her family to attend a conference, was in pain and alone in the darkness of the shaft for four hours. She was discovered when her mother heard her cries for help. Dr Tan, who was staying at the hostel with six family members, was on the way to the toilet when she stepped into the lift shaft, which is next to the toilet. She said: “It was dark and scary. I kept crying for help.” She suffered serious injuries, but is in stable condition at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Read the full report in The New Paper on Monday (July 29).
