Trip report
This report is a bit different as will not touch on the cheonging part that's already been covered by seniors like Yokosi.
Confirmation, there is no bus that goes into Betong directly. Perak Transit will only send to the border. If there is a lot of passenger, the driver will bring up to the duty free complex. Otherwise will stop at Malaysia immigration.
Get a motorbike to Betong, just tell them which Hotel to go to if you have already booked or have one in mind. Std price RM12. If you are good in negotiating, maybe can get for less.
Food is not exactly cheap. Had seafood fried rice, a bottle of coke and 2 raw oysters for dinner. Total charge was THB170 or RM22.
Breakfast was Beehoon soup and a cup of coffee for RM8.
Tutuk back to border, if Thai side is RM25, MY side is RM35. I decided to take to Thai side as the walk is short and the weather is cooling, even though it's sunny. Maybe the time of the year and also because Betong is up on a hill.
Had kway teow tomyam and a cup of ice coffee for RM15.
Others: Network is bad. Have both Starhub and Digi but couldn't even get any connection for both.
If you are one who cannot do without phone, may need to get local SIM here.
Had a 2hour oil massage for THB600
I can be cheapo Charlie, ate big wan tan mee, drank free plain water. Cost was THB 60.
Drank a bit, no have lady, no gave necklaces to any lady in Jockey Club, sat at a cocktail table. Later, when pud was full of customers, hardly any space to move around.....lady ( agogo girl ) came and asked me to give necklaces to ladies.
I refused and she hit me with a bunch of necklaces. 3 Malay Thai bouncers came and pushed me out of this fucking pud. And told me to " balik rumah ".
Never go to puds when it is full. Must be generous in these puds or they will find some reasons to push you out if you, liked me, at that time, be a cheap Charlie.
But it was okay, but in Pattaya Walking Street, where a naked lady, on the round bath tub, on yaba drugs, took my beer bottle and splashed beer on my face. As usual, bouncers all jumped next to me and pushed you out. Soi 6 was better. Cheaper drinks, no flowers. Sat there, drank beer....see see naked ladies.....no problems at all.
No big deal, really. Its all a learning experience....all to digest and be smarter next time. Hahaha.

Khun Yokosi the 2 examples you've stated above is simply outrageous and unacceptable by western standards.
But in cowboy towns there're no consumer rights lah.
It's interesting that you're able to laugh it off as if the bouncers are a joke!
Sometimes when I cheong I want to make these jokers think I'm an clueless and ignorant tourist just to get a kick out of it.
I'm sure you got a kick out of it as you insist to be cheap charlie intentionally and test their tolerance levels 555!
I can imagine if we team up as Batman (you) and Robin (me) those pub staff will sure vomit blood!

TonyCheong2,
When in Thailand, you met with bouncers, please be ignorant, stupid, clueless. They only pushed you away, out of the puds or clubs.
I can be cheap Charlie or can spent a few thousands of ringgit in the clubs. That depends on my mood.
Not even drunk at that time. Recently, had a bottle of Chivas in N20, small thai pud in Penang. Also, not drunk at all.

Please use WeChat to " discover " the ladies. Most are providing outcall massage , some ladies may be cute. Do not be shy in asking about sex. It is THB 1,500 per shot.
You never ask the bell boy for his recommendation for ladies. Most hotels have an OKTs in or around the lobby.
You are really souless, You must be more adventurous in cheonging.

Wooo, u got new puying in Betong. I kay poh a lot now. Tell me more, more. Let me hear all from you regarding your new narak friend.
Of course, a bit boring in Betong. Same puds, clubs, farms....nothing new actually. And beer...expensive than in , say, Danok, Pekan Siam and Sungai Golok.
Tourists will have more options for getting to Yala when Betong Airport opens at the end of this year.
Betong is about 140 kilometres from Yala city down Highway 410 and borders Malaysia’s Kedah and Perak.
Duangporn Suwanmanee, director of Betong Airport, says tourist attractions in Betong and nearby districts should benefit from the new air hub.
The Bt2-billion airport occupies an area of 921 rai and is almost 100 per cent complete after nearly 10 years of construction.
It was designed to handle smaller aircraft such as the ATR twin turboprops with 60-80 seats, with capacity for about 300 arrivals per hour.
The airport was scheduled to open in June this year before the Covid-19 outbreak intervened.
The airport is expected to mainly serve domestic tourists flying from Bangkok, as well as travellers from Malaysia, with Nok Air
is interested in opening an 86-seat turboprop service to Betong, according to Duangporn.
The airport is among a series of tourism-related infrastructure projects designed to attract visitors to Yala’s Betong,
Narathiwat’s Su-ngai Kolok and Pattani’s Nong Chik towns, under the Thai government’s “triangle economy city model”.
Prachyakorn added that the airport would help boost tourism in Yala as domestic visitors may be concerned about safety when travelling by car
while tourists from Malaysia could save travel time journeying to Penang airport.
According to Prachyakorn, around 500,000 Malaysian tourists visit Betong every year.
However, while his research team found the province has potential to attract tourists from the Asean region, they expressed concern at whether
local communities could cope with various problems that come with economic growth.
Several challenges lie ahead, including how to combat the area’s image of unrest, pinpointing which types of tourists to attract, and readiness of tourism
infrastructure and facilities, as well as participation of local people, Prachyakorn concluded.
