Generally Singapore passport holders no need to show the return ticket when entering Indonesia via Batam or Tg Balai, however base on Indonesia Immigration policy, all foreigners entering Indonesia on Socal Visit Pass are required to purchase return ticket, so Immigration officers at Semarang Ahmad Yani Airport
1. Ferry counter is ouside of the customs area, like anywhere else. You can try purchasing ticket online for to/fro. Then show booking for the ticket. If you call in with some notice, they do allow changing of the timings of your return ticket. I did encounter once seeing Chinese nationals being requested for the return ticket at batam customs, and they showed their bookings. Not sure if was an attempt by customs to bring them to side office.
Thanks YummyBear, ryanlee and kbt7046 for the info. I'll post an update when we get back.
2. Now indo law, cannot slot in local sim card in oversea phone, u will got issue. So get the roaming plan from ur telco, singtel got 5 dollars per day plan or 15 dollars for 30 days with 2GB. Other telco also have similar plan I guess.
Can you please provide more info about this new law? Have a link for information?
My mobile wifi router was registered by a European provider, and as such never required to be registered in Indonesia to work with Indo Telkomsel SIM card. I had another GSM phone, which I registered at Telkomsel customer point and it worked.
I wish to know if they will work again, or if I have to register them again, or there is no hope and I have to go with roaming (imagine that my provider wants 6 USD/day for data roaming!! I don't want that)
Do you or anyone else know where I can find detailed technical information for that?
Some information here, but not enough to clarify my doubts: https://www.telkomsel.com/en/prabayar/registrasi
Thank you so much.
PS: I think that the ultimate solution, if anything else fails, will to go to GraPARI and buy a MIFI bundled with SIM card. If one stays more than a weekend or plans to return it can be more convenient than roaming. However, a visit to GraPARI always took me more than one hour.

Just use a TPG SIM card, works for me on my Batam trips.
Great to hear that, but on what phone? The problem reported by some is not what SIM, but the phone where it is put
I really hope there will be no problem as for you.

LT joints are Mawar (next door H3 massage), Segar (opp Hana Hotel) and KTV like Memory and Links. My general opinion is KTV girls look better. A lot still look like auntie maids in the joints, so just be prepared mentally. Prices vary 1.2 to 1.8m, and some > 2m. Pick your poison.
Thanks for this really helpful update obikom!
Are the places below the Memory and Links KTV you went to?
