Times have changed.... the present Thai puyings are more educated and streetsmart compared with their mums and aunties some 20-30 years ago.... so we can't really expect from them the kind of service that we got from their mums and aunts which endeared them to us and for which many of us kept returning to hatyai for more.
I used to make at least 1 trip to hatyai every month back in the 70s-80s..... I even tried my hands at being a tour coach driver running only the hdy-sin-hdy route..... sibeh siong driving 18 hrs x 2 trips every other day so did not last long in that job.
I still travel up to hatyai but not so frequent anymore...... more like once every 3 months.
