You should just tell ur GF that u dun know anything about Hanoi and ask her to book hotel for both of u. From her response, u will be able to tell many things and plan further. Depending on ur arrival date, if its around the 1000 years celebration, u are gonna get hell... hotel rooms no have, very expensive, everything closed, road blocks, very expensive, inconvenience, heighten security with police raiding the hotels .... and did i mention everything very expensive??? and also dun forget it will be raining very heavy and half the city will be flooded, so bring ur swimming trunk and fishing rod as well...
