firstly, what is your purpose of speaking tieng Viet? you must established that very clearly first. Different purpose will mean you need to take different path to achieve exactly what you wanted to achieve.
Before you go soul searching deep into yourself to answer that question above, maybe i can offer you something to think about.
For me, speaking Tieng Viet is to enhance my chance of getting viet girls. On the contrary, did you know that many a times, viet girls do not like foreigners who can speak Tieng Viet? I have a couple of gf who are like tat. so i had to speak vietnamese with a twist to it in order to get into their panties.
What i realise is this.. Viet girls worried about foreigners guys who can speak Tieng Viet bcos they think these guys knows too much and also sian many girls and cannot be trusted.
So with these kind of girls, if you speak 100% correct Vietnamese, you are likely peeing against the wind.
And if you speak very limited version of Tieng Viet to show that you actually know very little Vietnamese, then they will probably chop carrot you like they do with other customers as well.
The short cut is exactly what Carrot007 has achieved. Within 6 months he knows a little Tieng Viet, and then he choose to focus on the Cultural aspects of Vietnam and he was able to demonstrate that he understood the many fable and stories of Vietnam. With that, many pretty girls only look at him with starry eyes...
