Have got a look at some more of the spots that were on that list that was posted here (in Vietnamese).... so just to update and also sum up previous findings:
Lexy on Cao Thang looks like it's being renovated or torn down
Vertu in Phu Nhuan seems ok, typical Vietnamese night club, small, dancing onstage
141 in Phu Nhuan is similar but bigger, cuter staff.
Beegees Trang (PN) is to be avoided
Dong Kinh in D5 is actually Tokyo, which is well known to members here, I believe. Perhaps someone else can update on what its status is, what kind of venue now (is it just karaoke? seemed to be when I went there a few yrs back)
Hai Van in D1 is the well known place just off the Ben Thanh traffic circle, the narrow street running parallel to Le Loi -- didn't venture inside but as far as I know, the disco there is shut now, has been for awhile. Think it's just a massage at this point in time.
Noblesse is in D1 upstairs at the Metropole Hotel (Tran Hung Dao) but is being renovated. Only the massage is open now. Funny how in Vietnam you get all these massage-slash-discos. Guess you can dance the night away, and then go have a massage afterwards to take the kinks out.
Metallica off Ng Thi Minh Khai also being renovated
(most of above previously mentioned, and the rest I can't tremember -- too lazy to search my old posts!)
The new additions to the list:
"Now" is a night club out off CMT8 street, a little ways past Lan Anh. If you reach the park, it is on the side street just before that park. Strange place. Not huge, but it has all these levels going up and down, so it's like being inside an M.C. Escher drawing. Otherwise it's your typical night club. This whole area is just packed with cafes and bars. I'd never heard of this area before but it's something to be seen. A very for-locals area, and just so alive with energy.
Las Vegas in Tan Binh district, actually quite a ways out west. Someone told me it's a shithole -- but I guess they refurbished it because it looked pretty glitzy. Decent staff -- tho nothing I'd feel compelled to be going that far out of my way for. It's located in the Tan Binh 2 Hotel, had to ask locals to help me find it. This is the kind of place though where your being a foreigner would surely be a big plus, don't think we're seen often in one like this. I'm a below average looking 40ish Ang Moh, and was getting interested stares from the staff just as I walked in. This of course is the main attraction of these way-out places: low hanging fruit waiting to be picked.
