MFA Press Statement: State Visit By President S R Nathan To Vietnam
President S R Nathan, who is currently in Vietnam on a State Visit, called on Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet today. President Nathan was given a Ceremonial Welcome at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi before he and President Triet had an extensive discussion on how both countries could
work together to further strengthen bilateral ties. President Nathan had suggested to President Triet that Singapore would be keen to share its experiences and to work with Vietnam in developing new areas of
cooperation in tourism, urban development, ports and logistics, airport development and
cultural cooperation, in addition to what both sides are already doing under the
Connectivity Framework of Agreement. President Triet looked forward to seeking Singapore's participation in the improvement and development of ports along Vietnam's coastline and in the opening up of airports to facilitate the growth of tourism in various idyllic areas in Vietnam. President Triet and his wife, Madam Tran Thi Kim Chi also hosted a State Banquet in honour of President Nathan and Mrs Nathan.
