After checking in I did a quick recce of the area around my hotel. I chose to stay in Nipponbashi which is the heart of the anime/cosplay genre. I also realized that I had been to this area before during my last (pre-pandemic) trip. Back then the area was bustling but this time round the crowds were definitely much thinner.

There were still the same girls in school uniform, gothic and maid uniforms etc handing out flyers. I had chanced upon quite a few of these reflex shops on, of all of places, Twitter. Out of the very many there was only one who replied to me (on Twitter) that no Japanese, no problem. So I wanted to check out that specific joint.

But when I went there and saw the girls handing out the flyers I didn’t feel too good. On top of the translation issue, there were simply not enough reviews in the internet to make me feel comfortable. I really don’t want to go into any joint and end up getting scammed out of thousands.

To be fair I did see one or 2 locals talking to the girls, presumably enquiring, so the joints are probably safe. But I don’t really feel comfortable as yet to try it. At least not tonight.

Let’s see how daring/ desperate I get in the next 2-3 days lol.
