Yes there's always the ignore button

Forums are like living things. It is alive, it breathes, it moves and grows. And like all living things, it tends to go through evolution. Changing as time goes by becoming somewhat different from what it was initially intended. Now the question is, has it done more harm or more good?

When it is not alive, it gradually loses spark and dies away. Just look at 90% of the thread in sbf. All dead or lack any activity. We cannot stop or control evolution, if we did, it will strangle the life out of it.

Interestingly, the point of contention, is also the very point why this thread is so active. People are attracted to lively conversation, and like to listen to differing perspectives. And offering them. Some have even gained life lessons when presented with many alternative perspectives. And that's why this thread attracts so many. Messy? Yes somewhat. Interesting? Definitely. Useful? Arguably, more than any other thread in this entire website.

It is only a very small handful, the same few who dont seem to be able to follow and dont seem to appreciate the benefit it offers.

Want a more FR focused thread? I can't really see its sustainability, or it maintaining high interest level, week in week out, year after year. Why? Because there really isn't that many girls out there. After a while it'll be FRs on the same few girls, and the interest in the thread will wane. And not every samster is a gifted wordsmith which may lead to dry, uninspiring FRs. The fact is, discussions reveal more information about the ML/FL than a FR alone.

What Bro Javabean did in his FR thread was truly a great effort. But it was hard to manage and he had to stop it after a short while. However, to be very honest, had it continued, I seriously doubt it would have stood the test of time due to the above statements.

So back to the big question. Has this evolution done more harm than good?

Looks like more harm only applies to a certain few people. More good? Well the overwhelming activity and success of this thread answers itself.
