Being ripped off is normal for foreigner. There are report from some guys who are force to pay extra 30% foreigner surcharge to these webgirls, otherwise girls will reject foreigner. Worth to pay extra foreigner surcharge or not depend on yourself.
As a short term traveller to HCM, i give up on Webgirls.

I understand your views and where you are coming from, and indeed you have been very adamant in your distaste and dislike for webgirls. That is definitely your prerogative and i respect that. You have also contributed a lot of pertinent information which I have used to make my trip enjoyable. Thank you very much.
However, I do not appreciate being spoken down to and being asked to question my own decisions;
I do not think anyone will appreciate having their thought processes and decisions questioned in a forum such as this. If that was not your intention, I apologise for being rude.
With regards to wasting time, I did waste time looking for the hotel but again,time is NOT a concern for me. I have also sufficiently respected all of the varying views expressed here by making it VERY clear that this is only valid if time is not your concern. I could have visited the MPs as you mentioned and that was one of my options as I did specifically pick D10 with the express purpose of having that as my backup.
With regards to the surcharge, or being ripped off, I only got ripped off by the hotel. If other mongers did get ripped off by the girl and were happy to pay the surcharge, that is their choice(as they could have rejected the girl and gone to the MPs instead) and perhaps they were limited as you mentioned, by time or other circumstances.
I found the whole experience interesting and it offered a form of warped cultural insight into the whole interplay between government regulations and the exact situation on the ground.
TLDR, I respect your views, but please respect mine as well and don't assume I did not weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.
To also re-iterate my points, Webgirls are fun IF YOU HAVE TIME and PATIENCE and if you don't mind UNCERTAINTY. If not, as mentioned by Sexforyou, go with the tried and tested.
