Since I always comment on other people thread maybe I should share mine as well. WOT though so be forwarned.

I am in my mid/late 40s, single, chubby, live in my own 4 room resale HDB alone and have a stable job until I was laid off about 9 months ago. Have some savings (about $200k) but that's not the point. Had several relationships in the past but none made it more than 6 months. I really can't concentrate on anything else. I even dream about the times we had constantly. Its like I am going crazy. Never felt this way about any girls throughout my entire life. I am even contemplating selling off my HDB taking all my money and just live out my life in Bangkok with her but I know its stupid. Its not feasible nor will it last because the money will eventually run out and she gonna leave my broke ass but I can't help thinking and its driving me crazy.

Any bro has experienced something similar and any advise? Please don't ask me to get a decent girl and get married because that just won't work for me. Besides I don't know any decent girl who are into public nudity and BDSM.....

Just go back and continue where u left off. Find a job in Thailand too. How many more years can u afford to waste? Just do it.

your mistake is thinking $200k is "some money".

what you can do now is make enough money first, so you can play without worries in future with all the time you have left in your life. Still need to make out a play budget to stick to of course.

Have a target savings or passive income to reach for. then just enjoy the fruits for the rest of your life.

your $200k savings could have doubled in 5 years' time, before putting in additional savings. look how it compounds. You could be in early retirement within 10 years if you didnt make that mistake.

Is it easy to find a job in Thailand considering I don't speak read or write thai? Hmmm....that never crossed my mind but you make a good point.

I wouldn't put it that way.
If your sole purpose is to look for a job, like any job, it is actually easy to get in Singapore. But good jobs with good culture and good bosses are mighty difficult to get.

I do admit I am abit picky about jobs. But I am not complaining about being jobless, far from it. I'm perfectly happy to do grab coz mental health is more important to me than money.

What you do lose is your active income when you are employed in Singapore.

And you should know, a buffet, no matter how good, loses it appeal over time if you have it every day.
But if you only dip in from time to time, then the buffet will always be something for you to look forward to.

---Assume u have read, always look w a positive outlook in life. It's v tough down the road. If u happen to survive down the road, just say thanks to god. It's the god's grace that help you, not me. In fact i just lost my bag and found it again. It's god's grace that helps me to understand the cleaning aunties tough hardships. In fact the cleaning aunties are the true heroes, not me.

Why dont you get a decent job in Singapore and fly her up here every month or two? You said you stay alone so there is no hotel cost or any other major expense other than a cheap air ticket and whatever you decide to pay her. I bet you could get her to come up one week a month for $500 or so. Long term affordable also.

If I am U, I would rent out my M/B and 1 bedroom.. getting around $2k per month:rolleyes: I wont touch my savings. Then I will get a temp job and work for a month or 2. Temp job should be easy to find.. After that I can go Thailand live a few months until the salary & rental delplete then come back SG and repeat the cycle again;)

That would cost even more, no? I am still looking for a decent job but its hard to come by. I'm in a specialized field so its not that simple.
