Bad news just released. Singapore's GDP plunged an annualized, seasonally adjusted 19.7 percent in the first quarter from the previous quarter and fell 11.5 percent from a year earlier, both record drops, the Trade and Industry Ministry said Tuesday.

In recent months I've personally felt the impact of this downturn. I believe second quarter's result will be even worse. I'm sure many of you bros must have gotten many calls from your China 老婆, Indon cewek, Thai tirak, Viet baxa as why you've not look them up recently? LOL. :D

So how's the rest of you bros coping with this crisis? Some may hang lesser flowers, drink lesser, terminate sponsorship arrangements, etc. For Q2 2009 onwards my bonking and travelling will be cutted down by 50-80%. Every single cent counts these days except for the CASH GODS and CASH KINGS. :D Hope to hear your views, opinions and measures to counter in such grim times.

By the way just last month CITIGROUP INC (NYSE) dropped from 20.00+ to 1.00+. Now trading at 4.00+! Wow! :eek: Can buy?

the lesser debts u have, the safer u'll be.
Dun spend more than what u can afford.
If you buy things you don't need, you'll soon sell things you need.
Don't save what is left after spending; spend what is left after saving.
Spending future money is borrowing to spend today and the borrowers become the lender's slave ... indefinate.

if u have the extra cash, instead of putting in banks FD, earning pathetic interest ... might as well buy some stocks ...

so far got no calls from those overseas 'wives' yet, maybe they still have our CASH KING to entertain them that's why.....kekeke

personally, i stop buying any tech stuff and basically live lite, only spend on food and go out less as it costs $ to just move around in sg, public transport doesn't come cheap.

stay at home n sleep, go out n exercise to keep fit so dun fall sick easily n spend $ seeing doctors

now even contemplating 'donating' blood so can get free consultation in polyclincs, sigh...this is how u can try to make your $ last longer lor :)

it's worldwide, not just singapore. to save $, i plan to cancel cable tv, eat out less, wait for sales, hold off on major purchases, etc. might have to skip a few years of going to my fav bangkok, too. also jobs are few and not secure. my dept slashed 90% personnel since 2008! :eek:
i bought citi last oct/nov at $10...thinking it's cheap at half price. i guess not cheap enough. :mad:

Many friends from HK and local told me they can't go up there on "Ah Kong" anymore because there is travel freezes and entertainment freezes.

Some have cut cheonging altogether for fear of job losses. Any bros noticed any drop in business up there recently?

True true... Always make sure that your assets outweigh your debts and you have sufficient liquidity.

Cheonging activities sure affected lah, even if in-flow remains, need to put aside more to invest now.

Me beoing Citi for a while liao... currently funds and FX market on US so I will wait a while longer before comitting to Citi as I believe that we woud need to wait 1-2 years to reap max benefits.

Now, GM may be up lorry so think this may impact NYSE... hldg out for view.

Calls from Indo Ceweks? Not me. At least, I never give out my HP numbers to them. Even if I do, I use a number that I dont give to others. :D

Having fun can be reduced, not necessary cut back on frequency lah.

Go to less ex resturants, shop and buy less exp items.

End of the day, it is how you spend.

It is true that people are spending less, but there are people who still cheong regardless. It is just how you manage it only.

for one ... i dun cheong locally ... reason being it's not worth it ....
the amount of money spend locally can get better value when cheong overseas ...
there's no right or wrong .... only preference ....

Same here, prices of cheonging here in Indo land is much cheaper than Singapore.

Preference? Here Indonesia has huge range to choose from. :D

Compare the rates, and hospitality, you get better value.

I am in total agreement Indonesia is great, 220 millions plus in population, there is bound lots of girl looking to give us a great time.
I still rate Indo no 1 and coming close in second China.
