Are SG girls really materialistic?
 

I keep hearing this but is this really true? I see my surrounding women including my sisters, cousins, friends, colleagues, male friends' gfs, etc, and my own current SG gf. I don't see much materialistic in them.
Well, there are always that few hardcore materialistic SG girls who constantly post selfies with branded stuff and expensive holidays in facebook. But they are the minority.

To be understanding, SG girls have to be pragmatic when it comes to marrying right? Building a family in SG is just too costly therefore both the hubby and wife have to have some decent income. But not to the point of just choosing only rich men and wait to become TaiTai.

For those SG girls I know of that finally get hitched with white men, I find that they are the ones usually with dynamic personality and it really takes a polished white dude to conquer them. Haha. The usual SG boys a bit stiff and some are mommy's boy, afraid of many things.

On the negative side, I feel SG girls are too pampered in this safe environment so they have more attitude and pattern. Loves attention and less humble. In office, SG OLs are amongst the more slimy ones.

Or when they song song threaten u with divorce.. With woman charter... We SG men are the disadvantage one.

i find the main problem with them is not materialistic or pampered but they tend to overrate themselves. their expectations r high towards others esp guys but not themselves. snobbish attitude that makes the guy feel out of reach and end up chasing foreign girls instead. orbigoot. :D

Install OK Cupid, and view the profiles of the ladies there.
Most female profiles are either looking for pets, slaves, or guys to torture.

It seems that there is a now a lack of understanding of what a companion/spouse is really for.

I think that those still in their early 20s to mid 20s max still ok bah....those older ones especially those in their 30s. A lot of them have unrealistic expectations....That is why they are still single bah...:D:D:D

there is a kind of post which i hated the most. the kind where the girls post their LV, hermes during V day, their birthday on Facebook

My experience with most local girls of any kind, colour n religion that I've dated. They have the same mentality, comes to getting serious or the marriage they will see if the guy can provide them with future security example our job title, income, any of the 5c' shit even my ex bribe left me for a guy that have a freaking car etc etc & my sis too very choosy when comes to having a BF with bigger status than her. BTW I'm a middle income guy but I hate woman asking me about my status which I never reveal to them. Cheers mates

Isn't marriage about both striving for a better life/ future together? why should the guy take up the major part or all the responsibility ?

I have to say the future should be built by both parties. Majority of the local gals nowadays seem to feel that the man should pave the way for them while they tread on red carpet.

There was this girl I met who was in her early 30s. When I ask her what is her expectations? She told me that she wanted a married life whereby she would have afternoon tea, travel the whole world with the husband and go shopping everyday...:eek:

She even told me that she need 6k a month to upkeep each kid she give birth to and 3k for her 3 cats...:eek:

After hearing that, I was polite enough to tell her that it is good that she knows what she wants in life. Although at the back of my mind, i was thinking she must be living in LA LA Land.

Most likely, think that I am driving a decent ride and staying in a decent place, so I must have look like a big carrot head. Anyway she text me a few times thereafter and I cannot be bothered to reply her ever since then.

Just to conclude, I am sure there are some good local gems out there except I never encounter them before...:D

yes. which is why there are more and more single educated women who are unable to find their perfect partners. they fail to see that they themselves may not appear to be that compatible or desirable in the eyes of their ideal partners. :D

Yeah, the women i see from my surrounding are all from the 80s. The ones from 90s are too young for my taste so I don't notice them. You should be right coz Sgporeans born in 90s really had zero hardship and had even more pampering with the low birth rate.

Haha well, this has many truths in it. When a decent girl walk so close past the guy, he don't notice. But when he see a bitch with branded stuff and thick make up in facebook, he stalk her like crazy.

Agree with TS. The people around me are all nice and down to earth yet we are still being labelled as materialistic just because we carry chanel. As a girl i can tell u that 95% of all general female population like shoes and bags. Some are being secretive about it.. so when a girl tell u that she doesnt care for such bags shes most probably lying lol.

Then again theres those rly cmi cases one like someone mentioned above with the 3 cats hahaa. I would like to think that we are practical not materialistic. After all if we want to settle down there must be some security. I think thats a given. The prettier and more capable the girls are the higher their expectations. So to those sporean men who are always complaining that we are materialistic, maybe you arent looking in the correct categories/places? If the girl is out of your league then maybe she really is.. not worth pursuing right? Besides they are not wife material.. just nice to look at on fb and instagram lol
