Gianfranco Zola’s standing in the English game has been recognised by his induction into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.

The former Chelsea star is one of seven players chosen to join the Hall for 2006.

The other players are:

• Roger Hunt
• Liam Brady
• Alan Hansen
• Ian Rush


Zola, who played 312 times for Chelsea between 1996 and 2003, scoring 80 goals, has already been voted Chelsea’s greatest player of all-time by Blues supporters.

my salute to the great zola. i cant really remember any other italian who can play well in other epl clubs in the recent decades. roberto de matteo, vialli and zola were the few and they all play for chelsea. is it becos of the chelsea colour blue? italian national team also wear blue... :D
