Just to share some info of me get "chop" head experiance

Last 2 months was in Beijing.I was there for biz trips, so after dinner we went looking for some nice pubs to have a drinks and mb some gals.The taxi driver introduced us to a street near some shoppings and opposite have a strech of pubs. Was looking which pubs to go in and suddenly a lady approched us and intro us a ktv joint. Since me was not clubber kaki but more to ktv sort, and the lady seem innocet ,we follow her and take another cab to the joint (its near a famous street with river between with many old shops selling souvinear. i cant remmember all the names as i cant read chinese.

When enter the ktv, it was just some patrons, and we request to get a room.

At the beggining, all was find, the gals came in and we chose some.We just order 6 bottles of beer and follow up with 6 bottles each time the beer finised.The beer was gone everytime in less then 5 minutes. After 20mins, the gals suddenly order some cocktails without our knowledge, but we just agreed as they said is cheap, and they keep order it.....

After 1 hours, we decided to leave, so ask for the bill. Shock !! when saw the bill..almost RMB9k ... what the hell, we calculate only drank 24bottles of beer and 24 glass of cocktails...... feel that something of not nice will happen liao !!

Breakdown of the bill
Beer half dozen - RMB300 each = RMB1.2K
COCKtail - RMB300 per glass x 24 = RMB7.2K

Plus some dont know wat fee..add up RMB8900++.

Pissed off so ask the manager come in to negotiate, at the end we gave in when a bunch of 5-6 guys (bouncer) stand at the door. Offer us 10% discount...knn...

After that 1 of the gals which seat with my China fren said luckly got a China man, if not the bill will be more....DAMN DAMN...

Lesson lear : Do not engage those freelance PIC who introduced some joint and MUST find some local to bring us there.

So please becareful ok....

Thank you for sharing your unfortunate encounter. This kind of encounters has been reported many times in the forum in various thread. Yours put more weight on the fact that we should never follow any recommendation comes unsolicited.

You did the right thing. In this kind of situation, the important thing is to get out of the place safe first. In fact, the practice had been (no sure it is still valid). When the owner presents an exorbitant bill, pay first and leave the place, then go to the police and make a complaint. The Police might be able to get some of your money back. Nevertheless, getting out from the place safely should be the first thing to do.

In China, we can never be too careful.

bro, learn my lesson hard, coz we on biz trip..so dun wanna make so much trouble .. the idea to report came to us also, but my fren told me they dare to do this, sure got some connection in black or white section... so just go back hotel lor and PCC..haha.

Hahaha! What is important is that you are back in one piece and are able to PCC when back to hotel room. Even with my years of experience, I fell into such scam when I was with two Beijing friends in Nanjing. The scene became very ugly later when they went back to the place with friends, but I opted to stay out of it. Let them settle the score themselves.

Maggies is good. I was there last 2 nites. going to Xiu in Park Hyatt tonight since it is friday. GT Banana is also a good hunting place. No ladies drink if you don not want to buy.

i think most of them know a bit of english.. u can also try sms them.. if they cant understand, they will also use translator software.. not perfect but works.

anyone got lucky at Hooters? It's a good place to hang out if u are alone; watch TV, have a meal, oogle & talk to the hooters gals. If u are lucky, u can date them after work. Most can speak basic english cos alot of ang mos patronise the place.:p
