I am going to the Angeles City Flying Club with some kids (11 & 12 yrs). Where would be a convenient child friendly hotel to stay? I understand that the ACFC is not exactly in Angeles City but located midway between Clark and Manila.

Budget hotel. Clean..

that is where i beg to differ .. Tune is in Makati, but not exactly Makati as it is further from Makati proper, and not a nice place to get stuck and surrounded by kids .. especially if you are a first timer and come christmas, everybody wants a piece of you ..

If i am first timer, I would rather park myself at BSA or some place walking distance to Greenbelt / Glorietta ..

The good thing about Tune is - it is walking distance to P Burgos .. correct me if i am wrong .. or I got my bearings mixed up ;)

If I remember correctly ACFC is some place near Magalang, but not so far from AC proper

I am not a flyer, but worked in a ACMI company .. so I always thought that anybody who flies in an Ultralight minus a Emergency Recovery chute have to get their brain checked ;)

Now if you are going there for a fun flight - that shouldn't discourage you right ?

Oh, don't mistake me .. I hate the R22 and R44s, but didn't flinch before flying in an ancient dinasour called Mil !!!! thiking that larger stuff don't fall off the sky ..

.

The guy on the phone told me it was the midway point between Manila and Clark. I have not been to the PI.

This trip is for the kids actually..... both of them are in the Junior Flying Club but due to their age were not allowed to go airborne on any of the planes. But their instructor said there's no such restriction in the PI and recommended the ACFC for the kids to get the flight experience.

Actually, it is after Clark - coming from Manila .. ;)

For location ..

So I wonder how it is midpoint .. when it is "AFTER CLARK" !!!!!!!

Rather than admitting that they are far from Manila, per se, the easier option is to claim "nearer to Manila" .. and well, if you fly into Clark, what difference does it make ?

Oh, you know that ACFC is flying ultra lights right ?? :)

You know the meaning of ETOPS ?

I would rather head further up to Tugegarao, and look up the flying school there, Cyclone

http://www.cycloneairways.com/pilot-training.html

Or WCC Aviation at Binalonan

http://www.wccaviation.com/aerocollege.php

Oh, if you want to enjoy flying, you can actually a C150 or 182, in Cyclone .. for a small fee ;) The FI are pretty good too

Yes it is about 5 km after Magalang town. Do you have any hotel there to recommend?

I checked around .. and if you are going for ACFC, my TA in AC says - stay in The ACFC ..

Or put up in Angeles Proper .. Lewis Grand or ABC ..

Not a good idea to stay in Angeles with the kids around.

I checked with the ACFC, their dormitory has limited beds and is given for those taking courses at the ACFC. Looks like I have to get a family hotel inside the CDC.

MaMistress: my 2 cents: well, if you are worried about kids seeing foreigners with local kids, then scout for hotels around Diamond Subdvision, essentially away from Fields / Perimeter ..

In fact, if this is your first visit to Philippines, it is common to see foreigners and locals .. in any hotels .. except the one run by the Church people (forgot the name - where they insist you must be married to check in together)

away from Fields / Perimeter, you see less of 'em ..

And even away in El Nido, you do see mixed couples ..

Tough luck

Or look for a flying club in Bacolod, for example ;)

If you are really stuck for hotels, PM me, I will ask my TA there to check and advice on family friendly hotels .. my TA lives in AC !

I have decided on the Holiday Inn Clark inside the CDC. How is this hotel?
