Depends whether you're staying inside the island or outside.
If outside, you can opt for new budget hotel near Songyu jetty.

Makan place pretty much all the same. If outside island I can recommend you mermaid's harbor or jiemei.

Shopping: SM shopping mall/ Zhongsan road. Xiamen shopping is expensive. Dont bother


Whether you stay in island or outside island doesnt matter, as the taxi fare are quite cheap and reliable.

Go to have a walk at zhongsan road and huandaolu, which is 10 minutes drive away.

China alot of fake branded condoms. i bought Durex before, the lubricant dried up n it became powdery.
China brand safer than Durex imo cause unlikely to produce fake ones.
Try to buy branded ones outside China.
